JAMMU, May 10: Keeping watch over illegal activities during the ongoing lockdown amid COVID-19 pandemic, Janipur Police under ‘Operation Sanjeevani’ arrested a notorious drug peddler and his associate along with 10 grams of heroin.
As per police sources, on specific information about drug dealing during the ongoing lockdown amid COVID-19 pandemic, a team from Janipur Police Station started patrolling in Gujjar Mohallah area and subjected two persons for checking, who were sitting inside a car.
During checking, police team recovered 10 grams heroin from the possession of two persons sitting in the car and arrested them.
The arrested persons were identified as Abdul Majeed, son of Javed Ahmed of Dwara Bahu Fort and Yasser Mohammad, son of Sharief Mohammad of Gujjar Mohallah, Janipur.
It is pertinent to mention here that Abdul Majeed is a notorious drug peddler and was involved in various cases.
Abdul Majeed used to sell the drugs among the youth in Sidhra, Ragoors and other areas of Jammu and with his arrest, Janipur Police has achieved a major success to save the youth from becoming drug addicts.
A case under relevant sections has been registered against the arrested persons at Janipur Police Station and investigation started to ascertain the source of the consignment and other persons involved in this illegal trade.
Police team led by SHO Janipur Inspector Naresh Sharma made the arrest under the supervision of SDPO West Amit Sharma, SP City PD Nitya and SSP Jammu Sridhar Patil.
