JAMMU, Apr 7: Police today claimed that they have arrested a notorious criminal with a pistol and two kilograms of ganja.
During routine patrolling at Ring Road in Pouni Chak area, a suspect was noticed by police, who was travelling towards Bhagatpur via service lane, a police official said. On seeing the police, he attempted to escape but the alert team of incharge Border Police Post Sandwan, led by ASI Raj Singh, acted swiftly, and detained the suspect for search and questioning, he said.
The police official further said that during search of the suspect’s bag, a pistol and two kilograms of ganja was recovered.
Accordingly, he was arrested and booked under the relevant sections of the law under the NDPS Act and Arms Act, he said. Further investigation into the case is underway to trace the source of the narcotics and the firearms as also to identify the network or individuals to whom the contraband was being supplied, added the police official.
