Notorious criminal arrested with smuggled pistol

JAMMU, Sept 15: Bahu Fort Police foiled a murder plot by arresting a notorious criminal along with smuggled pistol.
As per police sources, during patrolling a team from Police Station Bahu Fort led by SHO Inspector Deepak Pathania under the supervision of SDPO East Bikram Kumar and SP South Deepak Digra asked a pedestrian to stop for checking.
On seeing police cops, the pedestrian tried to escape, but the cops intercepted him after a brief chase.
During checking, police team recovered a pistol from the possession of the pedestrian and arrested him.
The arrested accused was identified as Sumeshwar Singh Jamwal alias Vicky alias Raja, son of Harnam Singh Jamwal, a resident of Bantalab Lower Thathar District Jammu. With his arrest, police foiled a murder plot.
During questioning, he revealed that he had brought around 8 to 10 country made pistols earlier also from outside the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir. It is pertinent to mention here that the accused was also arrested in NDPS Act case.
A case FIR Number 304/2021 under Section 3/25 Arms Act has been registered at Police Station Bahu Fort and investigation started.
