Notify AIIMS sanction in Gazette of India or face music: Harsh

Excelsior Correspondent
JAMMU, June 26: Former Minister and Jammu and Kashmir National Panthers Party leader, Harshdev Singh today asked the BJP leadership to get AIIMS sanction notified in the Gazette of India before July 20 or face consequences.
Addressing press conference here, Mr Singh lambasted the BJP leaders for their Machiavellian politics and said, “people of Jammu region are no naives and could no longer be befooled by the wanton licentiousness of BJP whose only objective was to remain glued to power”, adding “BJP leaders need to know that prior to 2012, no AIIMS could be established without an Act of Parliament and without amending the AIIMS Act 1956”.
He said it was by virtue of AIIMS (Amendment) Act 2012 that powers to establish AIIMS were also conferred upon the Central Government which could thereafter issue a notification after a Cabinet nod.
He further pointed out that the written order by any Central Government authority on AIIMS is meaningless until and unless the Institute is sanctioned in conformity with the stipulations laid down in the AIIMS Act with publication of notification to that effect in the Gazette of India.
Cautioning the BJP Ministers to refrain from the politics of candyfloss, Mr. Singh said that with people’s rage in Jammu already having reached its crescendo, it would be impossible for the saffron party to retrieve its image which has been highly disfigured and is getting fragmented with each passing day.
He cautioned the BJP to remain prepared for mass public movement to seek its ouster if AIIMS sanction was not legally and procedurally made before July 20.
Others who were present in the press conference included Gagan Pratap Singh and Advocate Vilakshan Singh.
