BANGALORE, July 18: Baba Ramdev, crusader against corruption, today said that he is not against the Congress posing Rahul Gandhi as future Prime Minister in the next general election to the Lok Sabha.
‘As long as a Prime Minister functions in the direction of bringing back black money hoarded in a foreign country, takes steps to eradicate corruption and ushers in fair administration, we are not interested who is the head of the country,’ he added.
Replying to a question at a news conference here, he said that whether a leader is young or old the matter that counts is whether they function in the direction of taking the country to higher level and provide efficient and corruption free government.
Referring to his indefinite agitation from August 9, Baba Ramdev said that this is the final chance for the Congress-led UPA
government to pass the Lokpal Bill. “The agitation will continue till the Centre concedes the demand. This is the last and final chance and it would be like ‘whether do or go’. Lokpal bill should be passed or this government should quit.”
He said that already preparations have began to enlighten the people on corruption menace in villages. Social and Political boycott will be held at village level if the Union Government fails to act.
Baba Ramdev demanded that the Centre form a committee with Members drawn from country’s top investigating agency CBI, CAT, Election Commission, ruling and opposition parties and Chief Justices to hold an impartial inquiry and unearth facts about black money.
He alleged that the CBI is working under the influence of the Centre and Central Vigilance Commission is headed by government representative. “When such is the case how can corruption be curtailed?” he asked.
He said that there is need for value based education moving away from the present system which takes 25 years to complete.
Baba Ramdev said that though the country got political independence it has not yet got economic freedom.
Replying to a question, he said that this time there would no dialogue with the Centre unless Lokpal bill is passed. “Even if the Centre intends to have any discussion it would be held openly and not behind closed door,” he added.
