Norwegian Ambassador, J-K CM discuss partnership projects

SRINAGAR : Norwegian Ambassador to India Eivind S Homme today called on Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed here and discussed several mutually-beneficial projects, including ‘Swasthya Slate’, a health scheme as part of Norway-India Partnership Initiative (NIPI).

“Sayeed and the Norwegian Ambassador discussed several mutually-beneficial projects taken up between India and Norway, especially the one related to Swasthya Slate, a health sector scheme as part of NIPI,” an official spokesman said.

He said the chief minister appreciated the transfer of knowledge and technology between the two countries under NIPI and hoped that the scheme will simplify undertaking medical tests, especially benefiting the weaker sections of the society.

Under Swasthya Slate, Jammu and Kashmir has been chosen as the pilot state in the country and the project is being implemented through Public Health Foundation of India (PHFI).

A unit has already been established at Sunderbani, in Rajouri district of Jammu region. The registration process has already started and tests are being performed on expectant mothers by using the device.

Swasthya Slate is a bluetooth-enabled tablet, which includes specialised applications that help users perform a variety of screenings and health analysis protocols. (AGENCIES)
