Northern Command Army Chief calls on CM, briefs about security

SRINAGAR :  Amid massive protests in valley over the killing of two youths by Army personnel, the GOC-in-C Northern Command, Lt General Sanjiv Chachra today called on Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah here.
The Army chief briefed the Chief Minister about the functioning of security grid and the coordination between various agencies, sources said.
During the meeting, matters relating to prevailing security scenario came up for discussion.
This was the first meeting of Lt Gen Chachra with Mr Abdullah after he took over the post from Lt General K T Parnaik.
Lt Gen Chachra was accompanied by GOC 15 Corps, Lt Gen Gurmeet Singh.
The meeting took place at a time when police has registered a case against Army personnel for allegedly killing two youths at Sumbal in north Kashmir on June 30.
Army has also ordered an inquiry into the incident.
The Chief Minister and other mainstream parties besides separatist condemned the incident.
