Northern Army Commander reviews operational preparedness along LoC

SRINAGAR, May 14: Lieutenant General Pratik Sharma, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Northern Command, today visited forward areas along the Line of Control (LoC) in North Kashmir to review the prevailing security situation, assess summer operational preparedness, and evaluate the readiness of troops deployed in the region.
During the visit, the Northern Army Commander was briefed by senior field commanders on the overall security scenario, operational deployments, counter-infiltration measures, and the preparedness being maintained along the LoC.
He reviewed the operational mechanisms in place and appreciated the professionalism and alertness of the troops operating in difficult terrain and adverse weather conditions.
Interacting with officers and soldiers stationed at forward locations, Lt Gen Sharma lauded their dedication, operational efficiency, and commitment towards safeguarding the nation’s borders.
He urged all ranks to remain vigilant, responsive, and combat-ready to effectively deal with emerging security challenges and maintain a strong operational posture in the region.
Meanwhile, a special wing of the Indian Army reiterated its commitment towards maintaining peace, progress, and prosperity in the notified area.
Army officials said the force will continue to work in close coordination with civil authorities and local residents to ensure stability, strengthen security measures, and support community welfare initiatives.
The Army also highlighted its role in humanitarian assistance, disaster response, and civic engagement programmes, stating that sustained peace and cooperation are essential for long-term development and prosperity in the region.
