JAMMU, Feb 17: A three-day North Zone Youth Festival is being organized by Central Sanskrit University, Shri Ranbir Campus, Jammu, in association with Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board at Katra.
Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Gurukul, Katra along with various campuses of Central Sanskrit University and Adarsh Mahavidyalayas of Sanskrit, situated in J&K, Himachal Pradesh, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand will also participate in this mega event.
This was informed by Madan Mohan Jha, Director of the Ranbir Campus. For the first time, this mega event will be conducted zone- wise, including the Adarsh Mahavidyalayas and the campuses falling under the respective zones in order to enhance the talents of students in different areas of cultural and sports.
35 participants from each institute will participate in the Youth Festival. Overall around 300 participants from different regions will showcase their talents in various fields. Senior Professors from various universities of the country and eminent personalities from the cultural and Academic field have been invited as members of the jury. Along with this, many officials have been deputed by the Department of Youth and Sports Affairs, J&K for the smooth conducting of sports competitions.
The festival will be inaugurated on February 20 at Katra in which Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha will be the chief guest. Mahamandaleshwar Swami Vishweshwaranandgiri will preside over the program. Anshul Garg, Chief Executive Officer of the Shrine Board will welcome the guests. Dr Jagdish Chandra Mehra, Joint CEO of the Shrine Board will act as the local coordinator of the three-day youth festival.
Academic competitions will include Sanskrit translation of Hindi and English, Sanskrit dialogue writing, Computer Sanskrit competition and Sanskrit film competition. Under cultural competitions there will be single and group Sanskrit songs, group dance and Rangoli competition. Under sports competitions, Athletics, badminton, volleyball, kabaddi, kho-kho, wrestling, chess and Yoga will be held from February 20 to 22.
The program will conclude on February 22 at Spiritual Development Center, Katra wherein chief guest will be the Vice Chancellor of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University, Prof R K Sinha. Minister of Krida Bharti, Prasad Mahankar will be the guest of honor while Shakti Pathak, DIG of Jammu range will be the special guest of the program. Prof Srinivasa Varkhedi, the Vice Chancellor of the Central Sanskrit University will preside over the function.
