JAMMU, July 22: National general secretary (Org) BJP Ram Lal today assured his party that Union Government will provide all assistance and support to State Government in fighting the subversive forces in the State and restoration of peace in Kashmir valley which has witnessed large scale violence for last 13 days after the killing of Hizbul commander Burhan Wani in South Kashmir district of Anantnag on July 8.
Addressing various meetings of the party during his hectic schedule here today, Ram Lal said Union Home Minister, Rajnath Singh is visiting Kashmir tomorrow to monitor the situation there. Alleging that Pakistan is totally involved in Kashmir unrest, he said the general people in Kashmir are not in favour of Pakistan and they want to live in peace but there are some handful people who are trying to exploit the situation to their own advantage.
Terming Burhan Wani a dreaded terrorist, he said the ultra met the same fate which a terrorist deserves and no body will be allowed to demoralize the security forces working under odd situation in Kashmir valley.
Extending full support of the party to Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti in defusing the crisis in Valley, Ram Lal urged his partymen to be fully behind the CM and Government at this hour.
Appealing all to be united, the BJP leader said “we have to make collective efforts to defeat the designs of Pakistan which is fomenting trouble in Kashmir to destabilize India.”
While expressing his grave concern over the Kashmir unrest, he urged his Partymen especially those from Valley to have a contact with the masses and work for defusing the crisis.
Lal who is on one day’s tour of Jammu reached here this morning. During his hectic programme of the day, he held a meeting with party office bearers at BJP’s constructed headquarters at Trikuta Nagar, which was followed by his meeting with BJP Ministers and legislators. Before departing to Union capital, he held a close door meeting with Party’s general secretaries.
Ram Lal said Valley unrest has tremendously affected the tourist season. He said as majority of the Kashmiris livelihood is dependent on tourism and they have been put to many hardships as tourist trade has received a setback due to the ongoing unrest.
He urged the party cadres to have contact with the masses and apprise them about the ill effects of the strike and bandhs which is eating up the vitals of the society.
The BJP leaders said even the subversives tried to disturb the holy Amarnath yatra but they failed in their designs and yatra is progressing smoothly.
Ram Lal said the BJP cadres are duty bound to work for restoration of peace and cooperate with the Government to defuse the crisis so that the tourist season is not further affected and holy Amarnath yatra plies smoothly.
He said that Party at Central level as well as Union Government is also constantly monitoring the situation in the Valley and it has taken some effective measures to restore peace and normalcy there.
He said the BJP fully endorsed the line adopted by Union Home Ministry over Kashmir as stated by Rajnath Singh in Parliament recently.
He said the BJP despite facing the criticism showed a broader vision and joined hands with the PDP in the larger interests of the people for the State and its overall development and betterment.
He, however, complimented the people of Jammu for maintaining calm, communal harmony and brotherhood and said Jammuites have always stood the test of time.
The BJP leader who took the stock of party activities as well sought the feed back from office bearers on the performance of the Party leadership working of organization, construction of district offices and preparations for the coming civic bodies and Municipal as well as Panchayat elections. Urging the Partymen to gear up for these elections, he said the civic body poll were likely to be held by ending this year or early next year and party has to ensure its victory on majority of seats.
The partymen besides Lok Sabha and Assembly elections should concentrate on civic body elections as well as cooperative elections at local level.
BJP State president Sat Sharma gave a feed back to yesterday’s all party meet held at Srinagar and said the State unit of the party has taken serious note of National Conference (NC) for boycotting the meeting.
The meeting of legislators and Ministers was attended by Deputy Chief Minister Dr Nirmal Singh, Speaker Kavinder Gupta, Minister of Forests Ch Lal Singh, Minister of Industries and Commerce, Chander Prakash Ganga, Minister of PHE, Irrigation and FC, Ch Shyam, Minister of Transport, A G Kohli, MoS Education, Tourism and Culture , Priya Sethi, and MoS Information, Ajay Nanda.
The meeting of office bearers was attended by national secretary, Farooq Khan, State president, Sat Sharma, (CA) and party general secretary Org (Ashok Kaul) among others while all the general secretaries were present in the meeting with general secretaries.
Later talking to media persons Sat Sharma said that party has fully backed the killing of Burhan Wani who was a dreaded terrorist and no leniency will be shown to any body waging a war with nation.
He said Party also made it clear that no one will be allowed to demoralize the security forces in the State who are fighting the Pak sponsored proxy war in J&K. The party also discussed the strategy for the coming civic body and municipal elections, he added.
