JAMMU, Sept 8: Taking notice of complaint lodged against JDA, Revenue and Forest Department for allegedly allowing illegal construction of huge complexes on Forest/State Land and Gair-mumkin Khad, the State Vigilance Commission has directed Departmental Vigilance Officer, Forest Department, DFO Jammu, Director Land Management, JDA and Deputy Commissioner Jammu for comprehensive report after due enquiry and checking of records.
During hearing of the case by the Commission today, it transpired that the land in question, where huge structures have been illegally raised- two of which are being raised near Macca Masjid, Bathindi and one near Herbal Park Narwal Chowk Jammu, is to be demarcated by Revenue authorities to ascertain its ownership between JDA and State, as Forest Department records indicate that it is not Forest land.
Despite directions by the Commission, the Assistant Commissioner Revenue Jammu has been avoiding the demarcation as well as his presence before the Commission to depose about the status of the land, said a SVC spokesperson.
Taking serious view of non-compliance of the order of the Commission, the Commission issued notice to the AC (R) Jammu directing him to show cause as to why action shall not be initiated against him as warranted under rules for non-compliance of the order of the Commission. He has been further directed to appear personally before the Commission alongwith reply to the show cause notice on next date of hearing fixed for November 14, 2016
Apart from this, AC (R) Jammu has been directed to ensure the demarcation of the land as reflected in the communication addressed to him by Director Land Management JDA well before the next date of hearing.
