Nomad murdered at Pir Panjal ‘dhok’

RAJOURI, July 22: A nomad hailing from Balmatkote area of  Mahore was murdered in Konser Sar area of  Pir Panjal, falling under Heerpur police jurisdiction of  Kulgam last night.
The deceased has been identified as 50-year-old Abdul Latief, son of Abdullah, resident of Balmatkote area Mahore tehsil. He had gone to his `dhok’ along with cattle and other family members. There was a quarrel over the issue of `dhok’ a few days back with another family of Mahore. They had also gone there with the cattle.
Last night when  Latief was sleeping the accused Abdul Rashid, resident of Balmatkote  allegedly attacked on his head with a stone and killed him on the spot. The other family members of  Abdul Latief raised alarm and chased but the accused escaped from there. Later, they reported the matter to Heerpur police.
The Police party from Heerpur rushed to the Pir Panjal forest area  after tracking long distance, examined the spot and then shifted the body for postmortem to nearby PHC. After conducting postmortem, the body was handed over to the family for last performing last rites. The police registered a murder case against Abdul Rashid and started search for him. The accused has gone underground.
