NEW DELHI: Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said today that there is no tension between the navies of India and China in the strategic Indian Ocean, which has been witnessing increasing activities by the PLA Navy.
Responding to a question on the “tussle” between China and India in the Indian Ocean Region, Sitharaman sought to downplay the issue and said, “There was no tension in the Indian Ocean, in the Navy against China.”
When asked about her visit to China, and that of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj to that country last month and whether there has been any change in terms of strategy, Sitharaman said: “We are talking, we are meeting each other – and that is a big change.” (AGENCIES)
