Srinagar, Jan 8: Senior National Conference (NC) leader and Member Parliament Akbar Lone today said that no body from the party is going to be a part of the apparently emerging Third Front on the political landscape of J&K.
Speaking to the media persons on the sidelines of a meeting of party workers, Lone said that these people (of third front) are the same who dislodged the Government in 1984 when Dr Farooq Abdullah was the Chief Minister.

“It was a meeting of the party functionaries, delegates, block presidents, constituency in charges, block secretaries and other parent body members from South Kashmir zone that was held at party headquarters Nawa e Subha”, he said.
“No body from our party is going to be a part of the third front who recently met with the Lieutenant Governor. These people have got no public appeal and the people have rejected them and will continue to do so,” he said.
He also said that these are same people who are from time to time “being used by the Central Government; but I am telling you that we are determined and these forces will not be allowed to succeed-they are similar to that of a use and throw commodity.”
While commenting of the proposed move of the Central Government with regard to extending the domicile law to the UT of Jammu and Kashmir, Lone said that the party is not going to accept it. “Rather, we will not be taking part in the elections unless and until what happened on August 5 is reversed in its totality,” he said.
He said that the talks of domicile are being put out on the directions of the people who are in consultation with the Government. “These people (of third front) are putting out such things; and we will not accept it in any form,” he said.
Replying to a question regarding why didn’t he resigned in protest after what happened on August 5, Lone said that if his resignation is going to serve any purpose, he was ready to resign.
“If I would have resigned, I would not have been able to speak in the Parliament as it did after August 5. If my resignation will pave a way for the release of the detained leaders and the people are given the rights that have been withheld, I am ready to resign,” he said.
