MENDHAR, Dec 20: The police failed to make any headway in middle-aged woman’s brutal murder at Chhunga Charoon village in Mendhar on December 14, 2012 and five other murder cases which took place in the tehsil in last several months.
A police officer said that no break through could be made in the murder of Shenaz Akhtar, wife of late Mohd Rafiq, resident of Chhunga Charoon so far. He said the police thoroughly examined the spot and also conducted autopsy on the body of the deceased. He said the medical report was yet awaited. Moreover, no arrest could be made in this connection.
The body of the deceased with deep stab wounds was found lying near an Army camp of 27 RR at around 6 pm six days back. A local shepherd Mohd Bashir noticed the body lying in the forest area about 500 mt away from the village and informed her family members including step son, Mohd Showkat.
The police party from Mendhar Police Station visited the examined the spot next day. The family members and villagers kept waiting in the chilling weather conditions at the spot with dead body in jungle during whole night.
The postmortem on the body was conducted at Mendhar hospital. The victim had two large stab wounds at head and backside and reportedly killed due to excessive bleeding. It appeared that stabbing took place about 200 mt away and the body was then shifted to the second location.
The investigation revealed that deceased’s husband, Late Mohd Rafiq was a porter in Army and died about 4 years back. From first marriage of Late Rafiq, there are two sons, Mohd Showkat and Mohd Ishfaq. Mohd Showkat is young and working as porter with 39 RR in the same area. Shehnaz Akhtar was the second wife of Late Rafiq. She also had two minor children. It was shepherd Mohd Bashir who came running to their house and told that Shenahz had been done to death. The police was said to be still dragging feet in the case.
Not only this, about half a dozen murder cases, which took place in Mendhar tehsil in last 5 to 6 months could not be solved by police so far. The police officer concerned passed buck to the FSL staff, alleging that report from the Lab was yet awaited.
It is pertinent to mention here that one Rubina Kouser, wife of Aijaz Khan, resident of Ari was murdered on 11-5-2012, but the case cold not be solved so far by Mendhar police on the same pretext. One Waqar Ahmed, son of Bashir Hussain, resident of Uchhad was done to death on June 2 this year but no breakthrough could be made so far in this case.
Again, one Zaffar Ali, son of Ghulam Hussain, resident of Salwah was murdered on November 5, 2012, but the police failed arrest the accused and solve this murder. Young Farzana Kouser, wife of Majid Hussain of Uchhad was also done to death on August 19, 2012. The case remained unsolved so far. Again, The police was still clueless in the blind murder of one Wazir Hussain, son of Ghulam Hussain, resident of Niaka Majari. There was strong public resentment against the police for its failure to solve cases while the senior officers of the department were also sleeping over the inefficiency of the subordinate staff in the area.
