No fresh ceasefire violation by Pak, LoC remains calm

JAMMU: Calm prevailed along the Line of Control with no fresh ceasefire violation was reported in the last 24 hours in Poonch district.
Though borders remained calm for a day, border residents are still living in fear and staying in safer location away from their homes apprehending fresh cross border firing in view of August 23-24 NSA-level talks.

Meanwhile Army is on alert to foil any nefarious designs from across the border particularly of pushing infiltrators in small groups on this side.”Since last night no fresh report of ceasefire violation was reported in the area,” an official said, adding that the firing which started yesterday at around 1330 hrs came to a halt at around 1930 hrs in the evening across Hamirpur and Mendhar sectors of Poonch.

”Next 48 hours ahead of the NSA talks will be crucial as any extreme provocation in the form of fresh truce violation along the LoC may create fresh ‘deadlock’ in the dialogue process,” sources added.

So far, six people have been killed and over 20 got injured in cross border firing for the past 10 days on the LoC. (AGENCIES)
