JAMMU, Dec 27: Former minister and senior Congress leader Raman Bhalla today said that much fanfare of development agenda launched by Union Government led by BJP for J&K is turning out to be a flop show with people yearning for redressal of their day today problems.
Interacting with the people in Ward 49, Shanker Colony in Gandhi Nagar constituency today, Bhalla said BJP has shown only dismal performance, nothing short of befooling people to make noise on the plank of development of the J&K as if earlier Governments have done nothing for development in the J&K. It is not surprising if the BJP was blacktopping few roads in Jammu city, the previous Governments used to do it without any fan fare. BJP’s development slogan is just a political gimmickry and an act of securing political gains as masses at large do not get the basic amenities of life like ration, drinking water, power without much ado.
Bhalla said that people like Pheriwalas, Rehriwalas, landless, auto-drivers and many other were badly let down by BJP after securing their mandate. He said people do not require hollow announcements, they demand action on ground level.
Talking about development agenda of BJP , Bhalla said that in order to topple people friendly MGNREGA scheme, BJP Govt has imposed 50 % cut in allocation of funds and that too have not been released. He said MGNREGA has direct bearing on employment and earning livelihood by rural population as also development in villages with aim to create durable assets.
Bhalla reminded BJP for its decision to close down 1300 Primary and Middle schools in Jammu region in the name of rationalization. Describing the move on closure of schools as highly retrograde, he said it has adversely affected the educational activity especially in the remote and far flung areas of Jammu region. He said that no school was upgraded during past 5 years and schools which were upgraded during NC-Cong regime were not opened including Bathindi Higher Sec School, Raipur HSS, Bhour Camp Girls HSS, Gandhi Nagar GHSS besides other High Schools in Gandhi Nagar constituency.
PCC leader further said that Govt Hospital Gandhi Nagar & Rajiv Gandhi Hospital in spite of funds made available by UPA Govt/ GN Azad, were not made functional. At Rohi Morh, 10 bedded hospital could not be made functional by BJP despite spending crores by Govt. Inspite of funds available for Gandola, not made functional ignoring pilgrim tourism visiting Bahu Fort Shrine by BJP Govt. No flyover at Kunjwani Chowk & near Kissan Floor Mill, Greater Kailash which were at tender stage and approved by UPA Govt could see light of the day under BJP, Bhalla alleged.
