No congregational prayers on Shab-e-Qadr

Srinagar, May 20: No congregational prayers of Shab-e-Qadr (the night of power and blessing) are being held in Kashmir as the Government and the religious leaders had asked people to stay away from gatherings due to COVID-19.
Normally Muslims in thousands used to throng Masjids during the night on 27 of Ramadhan to offer night long prayers on the occasion of Shab-e Qadr with biggest congregation at Hazratbal Shrine but people are observing these prayers in their houses to prevent spread of Coronavirus.
The administration has ordered here that there will be no Shab-e-Qadr congregations across Kashmir due to COVID-19.
The amalgam of various religious organization in Kashmir, Mutahida Majlis-e-Ulema Jammu Kashmir, headed by Mirwaiz Omar Farooq also asked people to stay away from religious gatherings on the auspicious occasions of Shab-e-Qadr, Jummat-ul-Vida and Eid-ul-Fitr, due to COVID-19.
