NMOPS J&K holds symbolic protest against UPS, NPS

JAMMU, Apr 1: Jammu and Kashmir Unit of the National Movement for Old Pension Scheme (NMOPS) today observed black day as a symbolic protest against the Unified Pension Scheme (UPS) and National Pension Scheme (NPS) across Jammu and Kashmir.
The protest, called by the National Movement for Old Pension Scheme (NMOPS) National president Vijay Kumar Bandhu and State president NMOPS J&K Mohd Ashraf Sheikh was supported by the J&K Employees Joint Action Committee (EJAC)  headed by State president Wajahat Hussain Durrani and along with dozens of employees’ associations. The protesters wore black ribbons while on duty, symbolizing their protest against the NPS/UPS scheme and demanding its withdrawal.
“We urge the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, to reinstate the old pension scheme as per his commitment in the election manifesto,” said Mohd Ashraf Sheikh, State president of NMOPS-J&K.
Pawanjeet Kour, president of the GMC Employees Association Jammu also participated in the symbolic protest and requested the Chief Minister to reinstate the old pension scheme for the social security and post-retirement life of employees.
The Protest was attended by various NMOPS-J&K leaders, including Hilal Ahmed Baba (chairman), Dr Karamjeet Singh (deputy general secretary), Mir Bashir Ahmed (UT chief advisor), Neetan Kalyan (UT Additional general secretary), Raman Kumar Sharma (UT treasurer), Amar Mooman (UT chief organizer), Tarun Gupta (provincial president Jammu), Anjum Nasir (UT spokesperson), Vikee Pandita (UT media secretary), Jalil Ahmed (UT convenor), Harpreet Kour (UT secretary), Amarjeet Singh (provincial general secretary) and Rail Singh (provincial coordinator).
District presidents Dr Syed Nusrat Shah, Dr Sanjay Sharma, Sartaj Ahmed, Farooq Kuty, Hilal Ahmed, Sanjay Sharma, Irfan Shan, Saleem Kawa, Shakeel Ahmed, Sushil Kumar Sharma, Tariq Amin Naik, Sandeep Bhat, Deep Singh, Sanjeev Singh, Bharat Saladia, Mohd Bhatt, Vishal Kumar, Krishan Kumar, Sanjay Sharma, Wasim Akram Shan, Farooq Mugal and Mohd Akram also participated in the protest.
