JAMMU, Mar 8: National Mazdoor Conference (NMC) today urged upon the Chief Minister, Deputy Chief Minister and Finance Minister to regularize the services of 62000 daily rated workers in the State, hoping that a decision in this regard would be taken in the forth coming budget session of legislature.
Talking to media persons here, NMC president, Subhash Shastri said that the fate of these daily wagers has been hanging in uncertainty for the last six years and nothing was done to address their hardships. He said that neither their wages were paid timely nor separate heads were put in place in their respective departments for drawls of wages, as a result, many of them could not get their wages for four to five years, he added.
Expressing his grave concern over the non release of 17% DA installments since January and July 2014, Shastri urged for release the same at the earliest.
He also demanded merger of 50 per cent Dearness Allowance of Central and State Government employees and pensioners into their basic pay and pension without any delay.
While pleading the cause of clerical cadre, Shastri demanded that their pay anomalies should be removed without any delay as they have been agitating for their most genuine demands for the last many years.
Referring to the ensuing State budget, Shastri hoped that the first budget of the Coalition Government in the State would be people friendly and address all the issues concerning the salaried class.
Other demands raised by NMC chief included enhancement of medical allowance to Rs 1000 per month, raising minimum wages of daily wagers to Rs 10,000 per month, declaring Jammu and Srinagar cities as B-1 cities, pensioners benefits to all PSU employees, inclusion of Jammu city in the list of 100 smart cities, etc.
Among others present on the occasion were Rajan Babu Khajuria, Sunil Kochhar, Surrinder Kumar, Bupinder Singh, Sham Lal, Jentoo Ram, Mohan Lal, Rajinder Kumar and Joginder Kumar.
