NMC urges Governor to make amendments in SRO 520

JAMMU, July 29: Stating that SRO 520 needs some amendments including provision of wages of need base, casual and seasonal laborers who have been included through biometric identification in 61,000 workers list but not being paid against any wages head in routine, National Mazdoor Conference (NMC) today urged Governor NN Vohra to make amendments in the SRO.
Addressing a largely attended NMC workers meet, their president, Subhash Shastri, said that proper amendments in SRO 520 should be incorporated so that cumbersome verification process should not be a cause of inconvenience for these daily rated workers adding that the need of the hour is that the Governor regime should set the process in motions to avoid any further delay and the high ups of the State Government should be asked to accelerate the process so as to avoid confusion if any arising in the mid of likely beneficiaries. He appealed to reconsider the policy and release the pending wages of need based and other workers immediately.
Shastri also stressed for immediately accepting the recommendations of the Ashok Lavas committee recommendations of removing pay anomalies of the lower-grade staff both of Central/State Governments services, adding that the committee has already submit the report to Finance Minister a year ago and recommended removal of all pay anomalies in respect to Class IV employees working in Central as well as State Governments.
Several resolutions were adopted in the meeting which included release of pending installment of DA due from July this year in favor of both Central/State Government employees and pensioners, releasing the 7th Pay Commissioner arrears to all pensioners in one go, issuance of order for removing pay anomalies of clericals cadre, setting up of National Wage Commission to evolve wage policy throughout the country and enhancing the wages of daily rated workers to Rs 350 per day.
