Addressing a meeting of workers here, NMC president, Subhash Shastri, said that there is urgent need for this pending DA due from July last to be released forthwith as there is still four months left for the implementation of the 7th Pay Commission report in the State from April 1, 2018 as has already been announced by the Finance Minister, Dr Haseeb Drabu while presenting current financial year budget in the State Assembly on January 11, 2017.
Shastri further said that in view of sharp increase of the prices of essential commodities and inflation, as another installment of DA has also become due to both Central and State government employees and pensioners from January 1, 2018 which will ultimately pile up of the arrears burdening further State exchequer.
“Therefore, as a matter of goodwill gesture, an early release of DA installment is the need of the hour”, he said, adding that the budgetary provision has already been kept for the year 2017-18, so that there should be no hitch for the state Government in releasing this installment.
While pleading the cause of daily rated workers working in various departments of the State Government, Shastri urged Dr Haseeb Drabu to convert the historical decision of the State Cabinet with regard to preparation of road map for these workers into a reality by issuance of order/notification by the State Government so as to start the regularization policy from January 1, 2018 as new year gift to working class.
