NMC urges for 20% interim relief

JAMMU, June 8: The National Mazdoor Conference (NMC) has urged the Union Finance Minister to keep provision for 20% interim relief for Central/State Government employees and pensioners in the current financial year budget.
In a memorandum sent to Arun Jaitley, Shastri said that since the DA has crossed 100 percent marks, there is no justification for withholding the merger of 50% DA with basic pay/pension and as such it should be done immediately.
Shastri also sought total exemption of Dearness Allowance (DA) from the ambit of Income Tax as DA is directly related with the price index. H said the Income Tax is also imposed on the salaries class because of DA.
He called upon the NDA Government at Centre to frame a National policy for regularization of Daily rated workers/casual/contractual and adhoc workers working in Central Government as well as State Governments across the country, beside raising of minimum wages at the National level to Rs 10, 000 per month.
