H&ME notifies lists of free drugs, diagnostics

Srinagar, Feb 17 Ahead of a possible inspection by the National Medical Commission (NMC) at the Government Medical College (GMC), Srinagar, the authorities of the college have directed the Heads of the Departments to ensure the completion of all prerequisites.
Additionally, the GMC authorities have directed all desk officers to submit the necessary information from their respective departments for the Renewal as well as the Annual Review of Accreditation-2024 under the National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS).
In this regard, the GMC stated that the NMC, has issued a public notice mentioning that the Medical Assessment & Rating Board (MARB)-NMC is about to start the inspection process for the academic year 2024-2025, for various applications (UG/PG).
“As such, all HoDs of GMC Srinagar are directed to ensure that all prerequisites viz-a-viz Standard Assessment Form (SAF), Declaration Forms of faculty & residents are completed thoroughly, which are to be presented before the NMC-appointed assessors,” GMC directed.
As per the directives, all HoDs have been instructed to nominate Nodal Officers from their respective departments, who will ensure close liaison with the NMC Cell of Academic Section, GMC Srinagar, on a day-to-day basis.
The officials said that the designated nodal officers will have the responsibility to scrutinize the SAF and Declaration Forms of their respective departments. Each department has been asked to submit the details of the nodal officers along with the contact numbers.
More so, the GMC, Srinagar, while referring to the communication received from the Additional Director, SAG, NBEMS regarding the Renewal/Annual Review of Accreditation-2024, has directed for the submission of online information and documents to the board.
In this regard, all Desk Officers of GMC Srinagar and Associated Hospitals have been asked to submit the required information, as mentioned in the provided format, of their respective departments.
Meanwhile, the Health & Medical Education (H&ME) Department has notified the list of free drugs and diagnostics to be implemented in the Public Health Centres (PHCs) & Sub Centres (Health & Wellness Centres) of J&K with immediate effect.
H&ME stated that the Mission Director, NHM J&K proposed to increase the number of drugs and diagnostics at Health & Wellness Centers as per the guidelines issued by the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Govt. of India and has also suggested constituting a committee to examine and recommend the list of free drugs and diagnostics.
According to the department, after the formation of the committee, it submitted its recommendations regarding the number of free drugs and diagnostics at Health & Wellness Centers, which were accepted, and the list of Free Drugs and Diagnostics was issued.
The list of free diagnostics issued by the H&ME lists 38 free tests at PHCs and 14 at Sub Centres and the free drugs include antifungal medicine, antiprotozoal medicines, antiparkinsonism medicines, anti anaemia medicines, cardiovascular medicines, anti hypertensive medicines, medicines used in shock and heart failure, hypolipidemic medicines, dermatological medicines, disinfectants and antiseptics, diuretics, gastrointestinal medicines, ophthalmological medicines, and contraceptives.
