JAMMU, Aug 23: National Mazdoor Conference (NMC) appealed to the Prime Minister to announce development package for J&K as announced for Bihar.
Addressing a press conference, President, NMC, Subash Shastri said that that to ameliorate the precarious budgetary position which the State is facing, the Central Government should be liberal enough to provide grants.
He also highlighted the issue of daily wagers regularization who are 61000 in number and are running the vital essential services and whose dues are pending for the past several years.
“A package of Rs 2000 crores as part of a larger grant will pave the way for early regularization of their services in one go vis-à-vis other issues related to them”, he added.
Shastri urged Prime Minister to announce and release the 7 percent DA due from July last in favour of both Central and State Government employees and pensioners.
He also demanded immediate release of all pending wages of daily rated workers working in PWD, Irrigation and Flood Control Department, PDD and PHE and other departments of the State Government well before ensuing festivals, early creation of separate wage head in each department for disbursement of pending wages, include Jammu city in the proposed 100 smart cities, setting up of Labour Welfare Advisory Board on the pattern of other States Labour Welfare Board, enhance wages of daily rated workers to Rs 10,000 per month, issuance of regularization orders of 180 daily rated workers working in Rural Development Department for the last 20 years falling under SRO 64 and release of all pending salary of motivators working in IWDP Phase II.
