NMC demands 20% interim relief for employees

JAMMU, Feb 27: National Mazdoor Conference (NMC) has appealed Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh to sanction 20% interim relief and merger of 50% DA into basic pay and pension in favour of employees and pensioners, in the Union Cabinet meeting to be held tomorrow.
In a memorandum sent to PM, NMC president, Subhash Shastri, also emphasized for release of 10% DA due from January1, 2014 to both Central and State Government employees as well as pensioners.
Referring to the income tax, Shastri pleaded for raising the income tax exemption limit to Rs five lakh. He also demanded exemption of DA from the ambit of income tax, as this, he said, is directly linked with price index.
Shastri also asserted for enhancing the minimum wages to Rs 10, 000 per month.
As the model code of conduct is likely to enforced shortly, there is need to take these vital matters concerning the crore of employees and pensioners at the earliest, he added.
