JAMMU, Apr 2: National Mazdoor Conference (NMC) today appealed Prime Minister Narendra Modi to announce and release of pending DA installment in favour of employees and pensioners of Central as well as State Government.
In a memorandum sent to Narendra Modi, Shastri while giving facts and figures, said that price index which was 5.89 % in June 30, 2014 had increased to 11.59 percent in December 31, 2014, adding that the rate of compensation was revised over six month one in January and in July every year based on average of the consumer price index for previous months.
“This would be the 19th bi-annual increase since the recommendation of the 6th Pay Commission which was accepted by the Central Government in August 14, 2008, he added. Continuing its decline for six successive months, Shastri said that the purchasing power of Rupee fell by 40 paise to 23.81 paise in December 2014.
Shastri said that prices of all essential commodities have gone up considerably and there was no justification on the part of the Central Government for withholding this installment for their employees and pensioners.
He also urged Prime Minister to declare Jammu and Srinagar as B-1 cities of the State. “Giving B-1 status to both capital cities would ensure more flow of funds for upgrading infrastructures and modernizing civic amenities of these fast expanding cities”, he added.
Shastri also pleaded sanctioning Rs 2000 crore as special package to the State to meet the expenditure on regularization of the services of 61000 casual labourers working in various departments of the State Government for last more than 15 years.
