NITI Aayog team interacts with public representatives in Kargil

KARGIL, Mar 5: Under the initiative for “Development Support Services for States/ UTs for infrastructure” (D35-i) of the Government of India, a team from the NITI Aayog led by the Assistant Vice President Gaurav Mahasheb Dev interacted with the public representatives and district officers at Auditorium Hall here today.
Executive Councilor for Social Welfare Aga Syed Mujtaba Mosavi, Assistant Commissioner Development (ACD) Kargil Ghulam Muhammad, district officers, BDC Chairpersons, Sarpanchs and other public representatives were present during the interactive session.
During the course of the programme, the public representatives highlighted issues and developmental concerns and requirements in Kargil district in general and their respective constituencies in particular.
EC Aga Syed Mujtaba while speaking about the importance of round the year surface and air connectivity for effective and efficient development in the district underlined the need for early construction of Zojila Tunnel and expansion of Kargil Airport.
Gaurav Mahasheb highlighted the agenda of NITI Ayog for planning and development of Kargil district in UT Ladakh. He also sought feedback about the planning process in Education, Health, Rural Development, PHE, PDD, Labour Department and other sectors in the district from the public representatives and district officers.
The ACD Kargil highlighted the issues pertaining to rural level and sustainable development. He suggested for creating a separate Planning Department for Kargil district to plan and implement the developmental works in proper manner.
Meanwhile, the public representatives including Sarpanch Saliskote Muhammad Abass, Sarpanch Pashkum Issa Ali, Sarpanch Testa Lungnak Zanskar Stanzin Nurboo and Member ULB Poyen Shabir Hussain highlighted various issues and developmental concerns with regard to education, health, tourism, power, water and labour sectors.
District Officers including the CEO, AD Tourism, Executive Officer MC, Assistant Labour Commissioner and other district officers also informed the team about various developmental activities underway in the district through their departments.
The team members of NITI Aayog after taking feedback from the representatives and district officers assured to consider them and involve in the planning process in all concerned sectors.
Pertinently, as an important initiative aimed at promoting the development of key infrastructure sectors in the newly constituted UT of Ladakh, the UT Administration Ladakh entered into an MoU with the NITI Aayog on 17th January, 2020 which was signed by the Advisor to LG Ladakh Umang Narula in presence of NITI Aayog CEO Amitabh Kant.
