NIOS holds Regional Directors meet, workshop

JAMMU, June 19: National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) organized 27th meeting of the Regional Directors and one day workshop about ongoing Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed.) programme for State Coordinators and State Nodal Officers at Uttar Pradesh.
The workshop was attended by the State Nodal Officers from almost all the States, NIOS State Coordinators, Regional Directors of NIOS and staff of NIOS at Headquarters.
Last year MHRD has assigned the massive task of Training of approximately 13 lakh untrained in-service elementary school teachers to NIOS. The training has to be completed before March 31, 2019. Approximately 12 lakh untrained teachers got themselves registered on SWAYAM portal and appeared in recently conducted examinations in 3 subjects 501, 502 and 503.
Today’s workshop was just a follow up of the recently conducted examinations and future strategy for next examinations.
SK Prasad, Director (SSS) delivered welcome address and in his opening remarks gave information about the objectives and structure of the workshop.
Sanjay Kumar Sinha, Director (Academic) gave a brief about the D.El.Ed. programme in NIOS, while C Dharuman, Director (Eval) and Secretary, NIOS spoke about the conduct and evaluation of the D.El.Ed. examinations across the country in effective and time bound manner.
Prof CB Sharma, Chairman, NIOS in his remarks termed this massive training programme of untrained teachers a unique and historic and call upon all stakeholders to continue with the same spirit and dedication for all future D.El.Ed. examinations in order to maintain quality of the training being imparted.
In the end, Dr Ashminder Singh Behl, Director (Vocational Education) delivered vote of thanks.
