Nine killed, five injured in Kashmir

SRINAGAR:
Nine persons were killed and five others were injured in separate road accidents in the Kashmir valley today, official sources said here today.
Sources said a passenger vehicle on way to Srinagar from Kupwara collided with another vehicle at Ringi Tarzoo on Srinagar-Baramulla highway resulting in on the spot death of five persons and injuries to seven others.
The injured were rushed to hospital where two more injured people were declared brought dead.    The deceased were identified as Mohammad Shafi Malik and his daughter Naza, Parveiz Ahmad Malik, Abdul Majeed Dar, Dilshad Ahmad Peer, Sara and Waseem Ahmad Malik.
Former chief minister Omar Abdullah and Peoples Democratic Party president Mehbooba Mufti have expressed grief over the loss of lives in the accident.
Five injured were identified as Ajaz Ahmad , Farooq Ahmad Najar, Arfat Hussain, Mohammad Halaf and Mohammad Saleem  Akhter.
All the injured have been shifted to SKIMS, SMHS and JVC hospitals in Srinagar for treatment.
In another incident, a vehicle hit and injured a nine-year-old boy Adnan Ahmad Sheikh at Friends Colony Shalimar, resulting in his on the spot death.
A vehicle hit and killed a pedestrian Manjit Singh at Baramulla in north Kashmir, they said.
