SAMBA, Nov 28: Vijaypur police nabbed nine persons, who were involved in betting on cock fight from Salmari area on Jammu-Pathankote National Highway.
As per official spokesman, based on reliable information, a team from Vijaypur police station conducted raid in Salmari and apprehended nine persons, who were involved in betting on cock fight. Police also seized 34 vehicles including 5 four wheelers from the spot.
The arrested persons have been identified as Mukesh Kumar, son of Kala Ram of Bahadur Khan Tehsil Bishnah, Surinder Kumar, son of Hira Lal of Uttar Pradesh, at present Vishal Nagar Talab Tillo Camp Road Jammu, Amjad Rahi, son of Mohammad Younis of Bale Bagh Akhnoor, Sanjay Kumar, son of Kaka Ram of Digiana Jammu, Shallu Kumar, son of Kak Ram of Digiana Jammu, Satish Kumar, son of Puran Chand of Tinde Khurd Bishnah, Vijay Kumar, son of Dhani Ram of Trikuta Nagar Jammu, Sanjay Singh, son of Kulvir Singh of RS Pura and Jog Raj, son of Pargat Singh of Valmiki Colony, Gandhi Nagar Jammu.
In this connection, action under 13 Gambling Act and 2/3 Prevention of Cruelty to Animals stand taken against the accused persons.
Police party headed by SHO Vijaypur Inspector Suraj Pathania made the arrest under the supervision of SDPO Vijaypur Abhisheik Sharma.
