Nimbhorkar to take over today, Patyal takes charge of Leh

JAMMU, July 22:  Lt Gen RR Nimbhorkar will take over as GOC of 16 Corps from Lt Gen KH Singh tomorrow while Lt Gen SK Patyal today took over as GOC of Leh based 14 Corps from Lt Gen BS Negi.
Lt Gen Parveen Bakshi, Chief of Staff (CoS) in Northern Command, Udhampur has been posted in the Eastern Command.
Reshuffle of all three GOCs in Jammu and Kashmir was exclusively reported by the Excelsior in its June 23 edition.
Sources said Lt Gen Nimbhorkar will take charge of 16 Corps tomorrow from Lt Gen KH Singh, who has been posted as Commandant of Infantry School Mhow in Madhya Pradesh.
Lt Gen Nimbhorkar has held very crucial assignments in Jammu and Kashmir and with his posting the Defence Ministry has sent very strong message to Pakistan that it means business and wouldn’t tolerate any nonsense activities by its Army and militants on the Line of Control (LoC).
Lt Gen Patyal, who was previously with Border Roads Organisation (BRO), took charge of 14 Corps today from Lt Gen BS Negi. He had joined the Army in 1979 and was promoted to the present rank in September last year.
Lt Gen Nimbhorkar has experience of serving in Rajouri district earlier, which he would be heading as GOC 16 Corps among other locations. He had headed a Unit in Sunderbani and commanded a Brigade in Nowshera. He belonged to Punjab Regiment.
The posting orders were likely to be issued in the next few days.
Lt Gen SK Dua, an 8 JAK Li officer, who has commanded Assam Rifles and is presently posted in Army Headquarters, could be the new GOC of Srinagar based 15 Corps in place of Lt Gen Subrata Saha. The posting order was expected next month. Lt Gen Saha is also tipped to get important posting in the Army Headquarters. During his tenure, a number of top militants were neutralized by the Army both on the LoC and hinterland and counter-insurgency grid was strengthened. Army did commendable job under his command during September, 2014 floods, which were widely acknowledged by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, then Defence Minister Arun Jaitley and the Army Headquarters. Lt Gen Negi is being considered for new postings in Army Headquarters or Northern Command.
