JAMMU, May 16: NIIT Jammu today conducted a seminar for commerce students stressing the role of Information Technology in building careers in commerce and economics.
Principal, Government College for Women, Parade (Jammu), Hemla Aggarwal, presided over the Seminar and delivered the keynote address.
During the seminar, OP Garg, a prominent Chartered Accountant, interacted with the students and stressed the need of Information Technology to build a career in any field of commerce. He pointed out that the time of doing manual accounting has gone; now in any field whether it is accountancy, company secretaryship or even a management in any field, a person must be at least computer literate if not master. He stressed that without knowledge of computers, no one can have a successful career in commerce or economics.
Hemla Aggarwal who spoke at length on the subject stated that it is a myth now to think that computers are relevant only to science students and benefits only them in career building. She said no commerce student can have a successful career without sound knowledge of computers.
Earlier, Director and COO of NIIT Jammu Centre stated that NIIT, which is a pioneer in IT Education and a top most educational institution in Asia, offers quite a good number of programs in IT for commerce students, which help them build a career in their respective field.
Prof SK Bhat, head of the Department and Prof Sunil Tickoo, Incharge, Career Counseling from SPMR College of Commerce also participated in the seminar besides various functionaries of the NIIT Jammu Centre.
