Srinagar, Dec 17: The night temperatures across the State fell several degrees with Srinagar and Jammu recording coldest nights of the season.
Srinagar witnessed coldest night of the season with minimum temperature recorded at minus 4.5 degree Celsius today. The dip in the temperatures led to the freezing of stagnant waters at several places.
The taps and water pipes also froze at several places leading to the water crisis in certain areas in the morning.
Pahalgam recorded a minimum of minus 7.3 degree Celsius and Gulmarg minus 4.4 degree Celsius.
Qazigund recorded minimum of minus 2.2 degree Celsius, Kupwara minus 4.7 degree Celsius and Kokernag minus 3.3 degree Celsius.
Kargil town recorded the minimum temperature of minus 9.4 degree Celsius. Leh recorded minus 13.6 degree Celsius, the town’s lowest temperature this season so far.
Jammu city today witnessed the season’s coldest night so far as the minimum temperature dropped to 5.4 degree Celsius. Katra town recorded 7.4 degree Celsius, Batote 4 degree Celsius, Banihal minus 0.8 degree Celsius and Bhaderwah 0.1 degree Celsius as the lowest temperature.
Srinagar recorded maximum day temperature of 10 degree Celsius while normal day temperature for this time of the year was 11.9 degree Celsius. Qazigund recorded 11.9 degree Celsius, Pahalgam 10.9 degree Celsius, Kupwara 11.6 degree Celsius, Kokernag 10.2 degree Celsius, Gulmarg 5.6 degree Celsius and Leh 7 degree Celsius.
Jammu recorded a maximum of 21.2 degree Celsius, Katra 19.7 degree Celsius, Banihal 18.6 degree Celsius, Batote 16.9 degree Celsius and Bhaderwah 15.1 degree Celsius.
A MeT official said that the weather will mainly remain dry across the State and there will be further drop in the night temperatures across the region.
