NIA arrests father-daughter for sheltering Pulwama suicide bomber

Major breakthrough in terror attack

SRINAGAR, Mar 3: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) today arrested a man and his daughter in connection with last year’s Pulwama attack, when a suicide bomber Adil Dar rammed his vehicle into a paramilitary Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF).
The duo have been identified as Tariq Ahmed Shah, 50, son of Mohammad Maqbool Shah resident of village Hakripora, Pulwama in South Kashmir and his daughter Insha Jan, 23. Tariq Ahmed Shah works as a Tipper driver in the South Kashmir. Both of them were flown to Jammu to seek their custody.

The NIA said that during the initial interrogation, Tariq Ahmed Shah has disclosed that his house at Hakripora, Pulwama was used by suicide bomber Adil Ahmed Dar, Mohammad Umar Farooq, a Pakistani JeM militant and IED maker, Kamran another Pakistani JeM militant, Sameer Ahmed Dar, JeM militant from Pulwama and Mohammad Ismail alias Ibrahim alias Adnan, a Pakistani militant.
The NIA said that accused Tariq Ahmed Shah facilitated all of them at his house for sheltering and for planning of the heinous attack on the CRPF convoy. His house was also used by these militants for preparing and recording of video of Fidayeen Adil Ahmed Dar, which was released by Jaish-e-Mohammad soon after the Pulwama attack.
The NIA said that Insha Jan, facilitated the militants at their home and provided food and other logistics during their stay on more than 15 occasions for 2-4 days each time, in their house during the year 2018-2019.
Initial interrogation has revealed that Insha Jan was in constant touch with Mohammad Umar Farooq, Pakistani IED maker and was in communication with him over telephone and other social media applications. The NIA is carrying out further investigation regarding their involvement.
Earlier last week, an Over Ground Worker (OGW), who provided logistical assistance to the suicide bomber Adil Dar was arrested from Pulwama.
He was identified as Shakir Bashir Magrey, 22, , son of Bashir Ahmed Magrey, resident of Hajibal, Kakapora, Pulwama. He had provided shelter and other logistical assistance to the suicide-bomber Adil Ahmad Dar.
In his initial interrogation, he has disclosed that on several occasions, he collected and delivered arms, ammunition, cash and explosive material to the JeM militants including those involved in Pulwama attack. He has also revealed that he had harboured Adil Ahmad Dar and Pakistani militant Mohammad Umar Farooq in his house from late 2018 till the attack in February 2019, and assisted them in the preparation of the IED. The NIA said that he was also involved in modifying the Maruti Eeco car and fitting the IED in it in early February, 2019.
Magrey was produced before the NIA Special Court at Jammu last week and remanded to 15 days of NIA custody for his detailed interrogation. His part of house was sealed by the NIA in Pulwama village.
