JAMMU, Feb 26: National Hydro-electric Power Corpor-ation (NHPC) Limited has established a Real Time  Seismic Data Centre at its Corporate office complex at Faridabad near Delhi on Thursday.
The Data Centre was inaugurated by K M Singh, CMD, NHPC Ltd in presence of experts from National Centre for Seismology, Ministry of Earth Sciences, Govt of India, other senior NHPC officials  and technical experts from ESS, Earth Sciences Australia  and ABEM Sweden.
Through this state of art advanced data centre NHPC has now connected its 18 power stations for receiving the earthquake data recorded at dams on real time basis.  NHPC is said to be the only hydro-power utility in the country to have such data centre that includes in-house seismic data processing and interpretation capabilities.
On this occasion, a three day workshop on ‘Seismological Considerations in Hydropower Design and Accelerograph Data Processing’ was also inaugurated by the CMD KM Singh, being   organised in  Fridabad complex from February 25 to 27 for the executives from across NHPC’s power stations.
