NHM employees warn Govt, extend strike by 72 hours

JAMMU, Jan 19: Demanding regularisation of their services and resolution of other allied issues, the strike of NHM employees entered sixth day today.
Holding 6th day protest demonstration at Press Club here as a reminder to State Government of the long pending demand of regularization and continuous neglect of Government towards genuine demands of NHM Employees, the leaders of protesting employees said that they have been agitating since many years for the rightful and genuine demand of regularization but the Government paid no heed to it.
They said the employees were continuously dodged over the years as except assurance noting concrete was done to settle their issues forcing them to launch agitation once again to seek justice.
Besides regularisation they are demanding immediate benefits like-inclusion in 7th Pay Commission, social security benefits ,Permanent Abolishing of contract system Equal pay Equal Work as per Haryana by laws, Transfer policy as per Ladakh model and conversion of Data Entry Operators into regular NHM Employees.
The employees said that on January 16 a meeting was held with State Governor by the Association and Governor had assured resolution of the demands.
However the Association which held a massive protest at Press Club here, today decided that it will not be possible for the employees of Kashmir and Ladakh region to visit Jammu and participate in the protest here hence a decision was taken that the employees from Kashmir Valley will continue peaceful protest at their respective district and block headquarters.
The Association said the employees are eagerly waiting for the fruitful response from the Government. In the meantime all NHM employees have decided to Extend peaceful protest up to 72hrs from 20 January onwards if Government failed to fulfil their demands.
