JAMMU, Jan 18: The protest and strike of All J&K NHM Employees’ Association, Jammu province today entered 5th day as the Association this morning decided to extend the strike and protest till January 20.
Hundreds of NHM employees drawn from various parts of Jammu and other districts of the province assembled at Exhibition Ground. Demanding regularization of their services and fulfillment of their other already agreed demands, they staged a peaceful protest.
Addressing the protesting employees, Rohit Seth, president, J&K NHM Employees’ Association, informed that last evening Governor SP Malik called a meeting with high power committee of NHM employees and assured that their genuine demands will be considered within days.
Seth informed the gathering that NHM committee has decided to continue peaceful protest till any positive response is given by Governor Office. He said if the genuine grievances of NHM employees were not conceded, they will continue their protest and strike.
The main demands of NHM employees are immediate regularization of jobs, maximum increment to all NHM employees, particularly for Paramedics and Management staff and implementation of the policy of ‘equal pay for equal work’. The employees also demanded implementation of 7th Pay Commission for NHM employees as has already been done in case of other Centrally sponsored schemes like SSA.
Meanwhile, RBSK Doctors’ Association has extended their support to the protesting NHM employees. President of the Association for Jammu Division, Dr Abhimanyu Gupta, in a statement said that their Association is in full support of NHM employees who have been on strike for last four days to press for their genuine demands.
