JAMMU, May 6: The Non-Gazetted Police Pensioners Welfare Forum (NGPPWF) today staged a demonstration here at Hari Singh Park, seeking redressal of their long pending grievances.
Ajit Singh, Chairman, NGPPWF said that the 5th Pay Commission was implemented in the erstwhile State in the year 1996 but the Police Department gave the benefits to the non-gazetted pensioners prospectively through a Government order number 229-F of 2014 dated October 17, 2014.
He demanded that these benefits should be given from the year 1996 itself as it has been done in other departments.
Ajit Singh said that some of the Police and J&K Fire Services’ pensioners have passed away. “At least, those alive should get the benefits,” he demanded.
He further demanded that the Medical Allowance paid to the UT pensioners should also be raised at par with the Central Government employees, which is Rs 1000. Currently, the non-gazetted police pensioners are paid Rs 300.
He demanded the provision of 10% reservation for admission in professional colleges and in recruitment for the children of police personnel.
Ajit Singh also demanded that the State employees should also be given the benefit of the 4% hike in DA benefits like the Central Government employees.
He also demanded an increase of 5 percent pension at the age of 65, gradually 10% at the age of 70, 15% at the age of 75, and 20 percent hike at the age of 80.
