JAMMU, July 17: National Democratic Party Indian (NDPI), president Rajesh Gupta alleged that a nexus of private ambulances with private hospitals is operating in Government Medical College & Hospital Jammu which has been fleecing the gullible patients with arbitrary fare charges.
“The nexus is being run by some middlemen of the reputed private hospitals and is apparently controlling the affairs of transportation of the Government run ambulances”, he alleged and adding that it has been done under the nose of the District Administration and the Authority concerned seems least bothered about it.
The private critical care ambulances are charging money ranging from Rs 50,000 to 55,000 for shifting serious patients to Ludhiana, Chandigarh and Amritsar, whereas Rs 10,000 has been charging for shifting a patient from Jammu to Narayana Hospital Katra. “The Government should make proper rules and regulations for ambulances services and take strict actions against private players,” he urged the District Administration.
