Nexus behind abolishing of SHGs: Manjit

VIJAYPUR, Aug 16: Seeking personal intervention of Lieutenant Governor, Manoj Sinha, J&K Apni Party (JKAP) senior leader, Manjit Singh today urged upon the Government to review the decision of abolishing Self-Help Groups (SHGs) of engineers in J&K.
Addressing at a public meeting today Singh said: “The decision to abolish the practice of reserving a portion of work for the SHG engineers was taken in haste to benefit big contractors. The decision must be reviewed by the Lt Governor Manoj Sinha to continue the scheme in J&K for the benefit of unemployed engineers,” he said.
Singh said: “The decision has exposed nexus between some bureaucrats and contractors.”
He claimed that there are some 15,000 engineers engaged with SHGs and they were contributing their part in the development of J&K in various departments.
The JKAP leader also said that youth of J&K are waiting for the advertisement of vacant 50,000 posts.
Meanwhile, many people led by Ex-President Municipal Committee Vijaypur, Narotam Singh Bandral joined JKAP. These included Ex-lecturer, Surinder Singh Charak, retired Sub-Inspector, Shiv Lal, Ravi Chahal, Varun Gupta and others.
Municipal Councillors, Nikki Mahajan of Ward Number 10 and Ravi Kumar of Ward Number 13, Ex-Captain, Mohan Lal Sharma, Ashok Choudhary, Bishan Verma and others were also present on the occasion.
