NEW DELHI: Rebel JD-U leader Sharad Yadav on Saturday accused the Narendra Modi Government of trying to polarise people on the basis of religion to divert the attention from the real issues of economic slow down and job loss after the demonetisation and implementation of GST.
He said, the 2019 Lok sabha election will be fought on economic issues. Briefing the media, a day before JD-U’s Yadav faction’s National Council meeting here, he announced nationwide protest against the Government.
Even after Babri Masjid demolition, Bihar stayed peaceful because of the communal harmony among the people, but during the Dussehra and Muharram this year, the State witnessed communal flairs at least at 30-35 places, he said. Attempt to polarise people is a tactic employed by the ruling party to distract from the real issues, Mr Yadav criticised.
Sharad Yadav said, ”the country is going through the tough phase because of the current Government’s policies.” “These issues will be the key factors in the next polls,” he added. Farmers, small scale traders, labourers and all are facing the heat of demonetisation and poorly implemented GST and it affected the weaker section of the society very badly, he alleged. (AGENCIES)
