Newly recruited teachers demand joining orders

SRINAGAR, Feb 2:  Mocking at its own fast track recruitment policy, the Government has failed to issue joining orders to hundreds of teachers who were appointed last year to address the shortage of human resource in the Education Department.
About 120 teachers were appointed by the Education Department through Service Selection Board (SSB) in Kulgam district in August last year. But the selected candidates are awaiting their joining orders. The candidates said they had applied for the posts of teachers advertised under fast track recruitment policy of the then Government in 2012.
“Though it was a fast track recruitment process, but it is ironic that it took the Government three years to release our lists after delayed test and interview,” the candidates said.
“It is more ironic that six months after selection our joining orders are nowhere. We followed our cases in the Civil Secretariat ourselves and our files were cleared by the Education Department only after we greased the palms of clerical staff there,” they said.
They said although candidates appointed in other districts have joined, their files have been deliberately stuck by the education department at the Directorate.
“The former Director Education played delaying tactics with us till now. We request the new director education to intervene in the issue,” the candidates said.
Director School Education, Kashmir, Showkat Ahmad told Excelsior that he will look at the file of these candidates once he joins office in Kashmir.
