JAMMU, Jan 8: Rajiv Rai Bhatnagar, newly appointed Advisor to Lieutenant Governor, today met the Lieutenant Governor, Girish Chandra Murmu here at the Raj Bhavan.
The Lt Governor and Bhatnagar discussed wide ranging issues relating to the developmental scenario and present security situation in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.
The Lt Governor congratulated Bhatnagar for his new appointment and wished him a successful tenure ahead.
A delegation of J&K Pahari Cultural and Welfare Forum also called on the Lieutenant Governor.
The delegation led by Kuldeep Raj Gupta, former Vice Chairman, J&K Advisory Board for Development of Pahari Speaking People apprised the Lt Governor about various issues regarding welfare of the Pahari Speaking People and also projected a demand for the grant of Scheduled Tribe Status to Paharis of Jammu and Kashmir.
The Lt Governor assured the delegation that their genuine issues and demands shall be taken up for examination.
Suhag Modi, Chairman, Tourism Development Society Gujarat (TDSG) also met Lieutenant Governor.
The Lt Governor and the Chairman discussed about various issues related to the development of tourism sector in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.
Suhag Modi also shared his view-point on initiating innovative steps for attracting more tourists in the UT.
Dr. Asgar Hassan Samoon, Principal Secretary, Department of Animal & Sheep Husbandry and Transport Department also called on the Lieutenant Governor and briefed him about the present status of various projects undertaken by the departments under his responsibility.
The Lt Governor directed Dr. Samoon to take all the requisite steps for ensuring the effective implementation of schemes under Animal & Sheep Husbandry and Transport sectors for the betterment of the general public.
