New Sports Policy soon in police, says J&K DGP

JAMMU:
Jammu and Kashmir Director General of Police K Rajindra today said new sports policy will soon be on anvil to promote sports culture in the organisation.
“The new policy aims to promote sports in the Organisation and bring changes in the sports arena of the Organisation, when adopted,” Rajendra said while chairing a meeting here.
He said “JKP has been focusing on promoting sports culture within and outside the organisation and has cultivated talent in various disciplines.”
“Our sports personnel have excelled at National and International levels. Their performance in sports arena has made the organisation proud,” he added. Various issues related to the promotion of sports in the Organisation including budget, infrastructure requirements, play grounds, incentives for outstanding sportsmen and recruitment of sports person under SRO-349 were also discussed in the meeting.
The DGP emphasised for a comprehensive policy to encourage the sports person, who excel at national and international level.
The salient features of new policy including enhancing sports infrastructure, introduction of special training courses, recruitment of outstanding sports persons and coaches in different ranks came under discussion.
Meanwhile, in a separate function here Rajendra felicitated 19 sports person of Jammu and Kashmir Police, who have shown outstanding performance in different disciplines during the year 2014.
Rajendra said JKP is contributing overwhelmingly towards promotion of sports in the State.
“Our efforts have been yielding good results and the sports persons of JKP have proven their mettle at national and international levels, bringing laurels for the nation,” the DGP said. (AGENCIES)
