JAMMU, May 23: A large number of highly educated citizens of Jammu along with many students, certain businessmen, farmers and educationists have come together to form a new political outfit.
The initiative is being led by president of Citizens’s Forum Jammu, and former PDP treasurer, RK Chadha. “The party, to cater to the region of Jammu and its people, will have its ideological base on separate budgets for Jammu region and equal funds for development and other works for the region”, a press release issued by RK Chadha said.
Chadha said, “The aim of the party will not be that of an opposition party for the sake of opposition only. This party will demand Jammu’s rights and its full equitable share in the progress of the entire State of J&K from the Central as well as State Governments by helping and not opposing them”.
He said that party is most likely to be named as “Jammu People’s party”, the name that has been shortlisted from among the suggestions received, and will be registered soon.
Chadha further said that the party ill not vouch for separate Jammu state or having Governor’s rule in the State. “We simply demand that present dispensation should prove its mandate or pave way for a political change”, he added.
He informed that an adhoc body of office bearers of the party was announced in the meeting held recently, wherein he himself was appointed as president of the party while Arun Sharma (retired chief engineer) and Vikram Gaur (retired chief engineer) were nominated as vice presidents. Also, Anil Sethi (Advocate) was nominated as general secretary of the proposed party.
