JAMMU: The Government today said that construction work of the Rs 40.25 crore new 200-bedded complex in the Lalla Ded Hospital in Srinagar is near completion and will be put to use shortly.
Replying to a question by Nasir Aslam Wani in the Assembly here today, Minister for Medical Education, Youth Services and Sports Taj Mohi-ud-Din said, to overcome the excessive rush of patients in the Lalla Ded Hospital, construction work of the 200-bedded new complex is near completion and will be put to use shortly.
One floor in the new complex will be converted for labour room purposes, the Minister said adding that internally remodelling adjacent areas of the labour room, additional capacity of 40 beds is being created, which will be ready by next month.
Maternity Hospital Santnagar will also be functional very soon, he said.
The Centre has approved the funding of Rs 45.98 crore for construction of a 200-bedded maternity hospital at Bemina and work on this prestigious project has already been taken up, the Minister added.
Replying to a question by Ashok Kumar, Minister for Higher Education Mohammad Akbar Lone said that establishment of new Degree Colleges at Kastigarh, Batote and Asar in Ramban district are not under the Government’s current consideration.
The Minister said that a detailed project report of Rs 3.29 crore for construction of a Women’s hostel in Degree College Ramban has been prepared and will be shortly submitted to the University Grants Commission for funding. (AGENCIES)
