KATHUA, Feb 9: Minister of State for Fisheries, Cooperatives, Finance and Planning Dr. Manohar Lal Sharma said that the creation of administrative units by the Government is a move towards providing accessible governance to the common man, adding that the State will witness its prospective results in the development scenario at the grass root level. Addressing a public meeting in Mangloor in Tehsil Hiranagar, Dr Sharma said Cabinet Sub-Committee has done justice with the genuine aspirations of the people.
On the occasion, people of Mangloor and other adjoining panchayats projected their grievances and demanded immediate redressal of their problems which mainly include, scarcity of drinking water, early commissioning of Mangloor bridge, shortage of school staff, additional building for Higher Secondary School Mangloor, construction of Chadwal-Mahri-Mangloor link road. The minster gave a patient hearing to the problems and demands of the people and assured that their genuine demands will be taken up on priority
Dr Sharma disclosed that various steps have been initiated to ensure infrastructural development. He said Mangloor bridge is on the completion stage and will be dedicated to the people at the earliest. He said that over 40 tube-well have been installed in kandi areas to cater to the need of the people. He said efforts were made to improve the water table of the area by building check dams to store rain water.He called upon the people to take up the repair and recharging works of the old ponds and natural kools under MGNREGA which are assets of the villages.
He also announced additional five room building for the Government Higher Secondary School Mangloor and directed XEn PWD to make the DPR and float contract at the earliest. He also instructed him to speed up the Doud- Jambal road besides expedite the works on Koungni- Rehni and Ladoli road.
The Minister assured that a health sub centre will be opened in Mangloor. He assured that five new hand pumps will be given to the Mangloor East and West panchayats halqas, added that provision for two new tubewells is also under active consideration and will be sanctioned soon.
Assistant Commissioner Development Kathua, BDO Hiranagar, Panches, Sarpanches, District and Tehsil level officers and large number of people were present on the occasion.
