NEW DELHI, Dec 4: Union Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’ on Friday said that along with the identification of talent in the National Education Policy, it will develop and expand it.
“In this globalised world, the NEP policy incorporates elements of Indian, International, Impactful, Interactive and inclusivity together with global mental thinking. Talents will be identified in this education policy, it will also be developed and expanded,” he said addressing the seventh convocation of NIT Meghalaya virtually.
He praised the work done by NIT Meghalaya and said that NIT Meghalaya has been on the path of continuous progress since its inception. The institute is developing rapidly in the field of science and technology.
Appreciating the work done by the NIT Meghalaya in the Covid crisis period, he said the real recognition of the capabilities of any institution is done by the work done during the crisis. In such a situation, in the challenging phase of global Covid-19 pandemic, NIT Meghalaya has not only built a digital classroom, but has also proved its capabilities by continuing the social distancing and sanitisation norms on campus.
Raising the important issue of climate change and environmental protection, the Union Minister said “we have promised to the global community to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals and protect our natural resources and the role of our educational institutions in fulfilling this promise. I am very happy that NIT Meghalaya is also actively involved in this direction.”
On the occasion, Chairman of the Board of Governors of NIT Meghalaya, Sajjan Bhajanka, Director of the institute Prof B Biswal, members of the board of governors, Senate and faculty, heads of various departments and students were also present. (UNI)
