LOS ANGELES, May 1: Actors Neil Patrick Harris and Bryan Cranston have both earned a Tony Awards nominations this year for their roles in theatre productions ‘Hedwig and the Angry Inch’ and ‘All the Way’ respectively.
This year’s nomination list is dominated by ‘A Gentleman’s Guide to Love and Murder’ with 10 nods, followed by Harris’ ‘Hedwig and the Angry Inch’ with 8, reported Ace Showbiz.
For Harris, who plays a transgender in the musical, this is his first nomination for best actor in a musical. He is battling Ramin Karimloo (‘Les Miserables’), Andy Karl (‘Rocky’) and Jefferson Mays and Bryce Pinkham (‘A Gentleman’s Guide to Love & Murder’) in the category.
Meanwhile, this is the first Tony nomination for ‘Breaking Bad’ star Cranston who is pitted against Chris O’Dowd (‘Of Mice and Men’), Samuel Barnett (‘Twelfth Night’), Mark Rylance (‘Richard III’) and Tony Shalhoub (‘Act One’) in the best actor in a play category.
The 2014 Tony Awards will be held in New York on June 8. ‘X-Men’ star Hugh Jackman is set to host teh ceremony. (PTI)
